Q: Do you participate in Earth Day?

A: AVM regularly participates and sponsors Earth-Day “eDay events” that heightens awareness of the impact our clients computer equipment has on the environment through responsible collection and recycling. This environmentally friendly event also allows customer employees to dispose of their personal IT assets.

Q: Do you use landfills?

A: We follow a strict "No Landfill Policy" for all of our partner customers. This pertains to all of our partners in the process both internally and externally. We visit and evaluate all of our downstream recyclers annually and ensure they follow a similar policy and guarantee that no portion of your equipment ends up in a landfill.

Q: Are you Minority Certified?

A: AVM is currently working on its minority certification.

Q: "Give me a "blurb" about why landfills overseas end up with sensitive information and how you guarantee this doesn’t happen."

A: "AVM restricts its business operations to US and Canada based companies. All of our downstream partners are thoroughly checked for their compliance with federal, state and local laws. Our responsibility is to our customers and responsible dissemination of their equipment. This principle is one of the core actions on which AVM was founded."

Q: "How do you handle your equipment you receive?"

A: "There are several imperative stages in our process that involve secure processes that are strictly monitored and data-integrity and client privilege maintained over the broad-spectrum.  Just to name a few stages in our process without giving away our entire business model are:

Transportation Security: The data storage systems were received by authorized AVM personnel and stored in a secure (locked) facility.

Data Removal Procedure:

1. AVM technicians wiped or physically destroyed the hard drives of all data storage devices according to one of the following procedures:

- Wipe Drive by White Canyon - DOD certified utility software to securely overwrite data over the hard drive, destroy all partitions, and unused disk space.

- Physical destruction through drilling or degaussing

2. The Computers and data storage devices received by AVM were stripped of all identification marks, names and property tags."

Q: "What if it still holds value?"

A: "Value is pre-determined with our customers and an offer to purchase is made on those valuations. Pricing is revisited quarterly."

Q: "What type of insurance does your company have?"

A: "We carry completed operations, work-mans' comp, business liability and a 10 million umbrella."

Q: "Will we have "one-on-one customer service", with a dedicated executive for us?"

A: "Our model requires each audit location to have the same audit team as well as a senior manager each time."

Q: "Do you offer shredding?"

A: "Shredding and video-taping of shredding is available. Call for pricing and logistics."

Q: "How do you destruct your hard drives?"

A: "The only hard drives destroyed are those that cannot be wiped. The process for that is once the drive is determined to be faulty, it is degaussed at our facility. Once demagnetized and data is completely eradicated, these hard drives are shredded."

Q: "What is your guarantee?"

A: "Our guarantee is that no customer data is allowed into the public domain. We accomplish this with our internal and external cross checks during audits which ensures every machine is checked 4 times for the presence of on O/S or data."

Q: "Do you offer a free on-site evaluation?"

A: "Yes, once certain criteria have been met, on-site evaluation is available as a non-billable service we provide within the continental US. Some examples of criteria would be: (1.) type of equipment, (2.) frequency and amount of equipment to be audited. Other operational factors such as (1.) building type, (2.) dock availability and (3.) storage level affect qualification for on-site evaluation."

Q: "My goal is to find the lowest bidder who will do the job right. I've noticed that there is a big difference in rates between computer recycling firms. Why is that?"

A: "Some firms offer audit services and some offer recycling services; however few firms offer both.   IT asset management audits are very precise, detailed procedures; where you are dealing with one of a company’s most valuable resources: it’s information. IT by-products and scrap material are part of a "supply-chain" that is a serious commodity. Companies and individuals that have the capability to provide similar services (but not with our precision and accuracy - unless they, themselves specialize in our field and have had the experience and qualifications that we have held and demand for our customers)  can attempt the customization that we provide less expensively. Pricing is based respectively and competitively based reasonably on where a firm falls into  categories determined by individual need."
